Between 2000 and 2012 over 70 anthropologists and anthropology interns at Urban Anthropology Inc. conducted a study of 65 Greater Milwaukee ethnic groups. Study findings resulted in seven documentaries, a college-level textbook entitled American Ethnic Practices in the Twenty-First Century--The Milwaukee Study, Milwaukee's Cultural Connect program presented in 20 schools and ultimately the online program at www.teachersaidsforkids, and the book Strolling through Milwaukee's Ethnic History. Now the volunteers at Urban Anthropology Inc. are consolidating this and other information into a comprehensive website that will include 50-70 ethnic groups from the Greater Milwaukee area. Please check back every week for one or more additional ethnic groups. |
This site is designed to be interactive. If you have information you want to share on any of the listed ethnic groups or know of a good candidate to be featured in the ethnic neighbor section, please email Dr. Jill at jflanthropologist@currently.com. If you have corrections, we also want to hear from you. All photos are courtesy of Urban Anthropology Inc or in the public domain, unless otherwise attributed. |
